Preparation for Quilting

*Quilt tops and backing should be pressed well.

Be sure that all seams are sewn closed and all stray threads cut

Remove all selvages- quilting with selvages untrimmed creates extra tension in the seams.

Backings and batting should be 4 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides.

Lay quilt top on table to make sure borders and blocks are laying flat without waves or being pinched.

Helpful to place a safety pin at the top edge of the quilt & same with backing (if it is not a solid piece).

Be sure that all edges are straight and even.
